Split's old town and the picturesque seaside areas of the Riva and Bacvice are the favourite venues to enjoy Dalmatian coastal cuisine and the hilarious Split nightlife.

Restaurants in Split feature excellent authentic meals with a wide choice of fish, seafood, meat, pasta and pizza. If you are making a tour of Diocletian's Palace the best and freshest seafood can be obtained from the Nostromo restaurant which is close to the fish market.
The most mouthwatering pizza has been served for years in the Galija pizzeria that shares the same location. Sperun Square has two great dining spots, the seafood Sperun restaurant and the Buffet Fife with a moderately priced menu of homemade dishes and wines. Don't miss one of the most famous Split restaurants, the Boban, located east of the Peristyle and offering an expansive menu. If you look for a snack, drop in at the Luxor café that is right on the Peristyle or the Fab Food snack bar on Pjaca to have sandwiches, wraps or salads. The richest selection of affordable international meals can be found in the popular Black Cat Bistro in the ferry port area.

The nightlife within the palace walls dies down about 1 AM but there are some great hotspots that are worth a visit, such as the Gaga bar near Pjaca or the Ghetto bar close to Fruit Square. For a top club experience with live music and cocktails, head for the Poljud Stadium to get to the Vanilla club. In close vicinity there is the famous Stari Mornar restaurant with an extensive selection of lamb, beef and seafood dishes.
The restaurants and cafes that provide panoramic sea views from open-air terraces are especially enticing for visitors. The Riva promenade has plenty of them like the ST-Riva coffee bar or the Adriana restaurant where one can enjoy live music performances. Breathtaking views can be admired from different Marjan locations, such as the Vidilica café or the Adriatic Graso restaurant that is positioned on a cliff. The Jugo restaurant will give you a chance to do some yacht watching at the marina while dining on tagliatelle with scampi, grilled calamari or other local specialties. Some of the best restaurants in Split line the Bacvice area; they are the romantic Sumica and the traditional Bota-Sare restaurants offering seafood and fish entries, steaks, pasta, etc.
The nightlife in the Bacvice neighbourhood is a vibrant top-notch affair thanks to the waterside entertainment complex and numerous bars, nightclubs, discos that are clustered around. You can party the night away in the Zbirac alfresco bar, enjoy the cocktails, music and dancing at the Tropic Club Ecuador or the two-level Bacvice bar. The open-air O'Hara nightclub in the nearby bay features live jazz and rock bands, DJs. The Split nightlife on the opposite western coast is centred round the Hemingway club with its great entertainment program.
The other night hotspots to visit in Split are the Inmotion club with a varied show program, the Master's club or the Red Room bar with DJ music, the Kocka club featuring a variety of music styles.
