Weather in Croatia in October

Naturally, you can't count on ideal weather in October, but it often can be very pleasant. The average daytime temperature along the coast is 19°C-21°C. There even might be days suitable for swimming and diving (with the temperature reaching 23°C), although if you are beach-oriented, you are not recommended to go to Croatia in October.

You will regret bringing warm jumpers and heavy jeans with you (unless you are planning to visit continental parts of Croatia). Instead, don't forget to bring three quarter length pants and light tops. However, a jacket for the evenings is a must even in the warmest regions.

If you happen to be in Croatia in October, you will see everything closing down, starting with restaurants and ending with clubs. Still, many bus and ferry schedules will be similar to those in September, targeted not only at tourists, but also at local people. The campings, in all probability, will also be closed, but you will easily find some private accomodation for a reasonable price.

If the unpredictability of the October weather makes you hesitant, your best bet would be to stay in big cities like Zadar, Sibenik, Split, and Dubrovnik, which are tourist-oriented all-year round and won't let you get bored whatever the weather.

You might consider island hopping. If all you want out of your holidays in Croatia is nice weather and serene green spots, visit Hvar and Mljet in the first place. Outdoor lovers can do great walking and biking tours. This is a fabulous time for those who like sailing as the Adriatic Sea can be stormy, with the bora and the scirocco winds getting stronger.

Although the tourist season is over, a plenty of events take place in different corners of Croatia. Those who find boat races fascinating will be happy to visit the annual regatta in Vis, which attracts a host of yachts and tourists from all over the world. People who are fond of classical music should head to Zagreb to enjoy the performances of prominent musicians at the International Chamber Music Festival.
