Kraljevica Travel Guide
Being the blend of old and modern, Kraljevica is a nice town of Croatia, situated in the Kvarner region, close to the bridge to the Krk Island. Since the 19th c. it has been a popular tourist resort with plush villas and breathtaking beaches.
The town is very easy to reach, the nearest Rijeka Airport is situated on the island of Krk, only 10 minutes drive from Kraljevica. The way from the capital city of Zagreb will take only 90 minutes by car. Many tourists choose this coastal town due to its vicinity to such attractive places as Krk, Cres, Losinj, Opatija and Selce with its hot springs.
The first mention of Kraljevica dates back to the 13th c. In the past the town's name was Portorium, which was later shortened to Porto Re.
Tourist attractions. Not only does Kraljevica boast of the oldest shipyard on the Adriatic, but it also is famous for two medieval castles of Zrinski and Frankopan families. The Parish Church of St. Nicholas is also worth visiting during Kraljevica travel.
Festivals and cultural events. One of the town's most remarkable events is known as Summer in Frankopan, celebrated in the Frankopan Castle. During your Kraljevica holidays you also have an opportunity to see some summer festivals held on the waterfront of the town and nearby villages of Bakarac and Črišnjevi. There is also a famous Carnival, celebrated in winter.
Restaurants. One of the best restaurants in Kraljevica is Frankopan, which has the dishes from the Italian, French and Croatian cuisine on its menu. Almis Latino, Bakarac, Konoba Kastel, Katarina, Pizzeria Petrus and Bistro Robi are also the restaurants where you can have a wonderful time, enjoying high-quality food.
Beaches. Wonderful sandy and pebble beaches can be found on the Ostro Peninsula and in Uvala Scott tourist settlement in the nearby Dubno Bay.
