Igrane Travel Guide
Igrane is a splendid seaside resort with a population of 400 inhabitants located on Makarska Riviera, Croatia. The great advantage of the village is a very good traffic communication with Makarska, Split, Dubrovnik, the islands of Hvar, Korcula and Brac.

Igrane is easy to reach. From the nearest airport in Split take a bus to Split bus station, and then take a bus to Igrane.
Like most places of Croatia, Igrane has a rich history which can be traced in its architecture. Ancient sarcophagi indicate that the area was inhabited by the Romans. 1430 is the year of the first mention of Igrane. The village's name itself means "the game" or "to play".
Tourist attractions. The tower "Zalina Kula" (17th c.), constructed in honour of Ivan Anticic and used for protection against Turks, together with a prehistoric site Gradina are definite must-sees for history buffs during their Igrane holidays. Those who enjoy architecture should visit the beautiful Baroque house of the Simic-Ivanisevic family (18th c.), the Pre-Romanesque Church of St. Mihovil (11th c.), Church of the Lady of Rozarija (18th c.), and the church of St. Nikola (1925). Nature lovers can rent a boat and enjoy the beauty of nearby islands, in particular Hvar and Brac. They will also like botanic Gardens of Kotosina.
Festivals and cultural events. Local cultural events and entertainment performances take place in the village, but if you want more from your Igrane travel in terms of events you are well advised to visit such resorts of Croatia as Makarska, Baska Voda, Tucepi or Brela that are a short-drive from Igrane.
Restaurants. After Igrane travel foodie tourists will find that the mere thought of this village make their mouths water. Some of the best places for eating out are Restaurant Tri Volta, Konoba Portina, and Gostionica Stari Ribar.
Beaches. Igrane beautiful beaches would leave anyone breathless. Long-stretching sandy and pebble beaches can be found along the southeastern side, many of which are suitable for children. There are also hide-away beaches for nudists.
Active vacations. If you want to have active Igrane holidays, rent a water scooter, attend a diving school, play mini-golf, ride a bicycle or simply jog. The mountain Biokovo above the village makes Igrane travel attractive for those who can’t live without mountaineering.
